Stream: Works on Paper, a new one-man show by Soler Santos, features several new mixed media pieces. For Stream, Soler harnessed different media — acrylic, pencil, ink and collage — creating an unusual layering of depth and textures: a method departing from his usual rendering of large-scale paintings. Soler’s works in Stream are dominantly black, white and ochre, captured in a style that recalls both his Waterfall Series and Stone Garden Series. These works represent a marriage of the two, combining isolated elements — the water drips and the stone-like figures — to recreate a bird’s eye view of a flowing stream.

Soler’s first one-man show was held at the Luz Gallery in 1981, when he was 21 years old. He was also named one of the CCP’s 13 Artist Awardees in 1992.
