“Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight” offers alternatives designed to attract those who have always felt that contemporary architecture was unbearable. It forces them to change their point of view and forget their preconceptions, because it speaks of adventure, invention and creativity.  Thus viewers are led imperceptibly to the consideration of contemporary architecture as something other than a closed world or reserved domain – which also explains the choice of showing only documents that can be read and understood by everyone (no plans, or cross-sections or technical drawings).

“Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight” is an exhibition originally produced and designed from a catalogue of photographs and critics of contemporary architecture, coordinated by the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine/Institut français d’architecture. This exhibition has been specifically tailored for a worldwide presentation, focusing on architecture in tune with current urban situations, territorial and program-related issues that are relevant throughout the world.

“Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight” is organized by Alliance Française de Manille and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Design & Arts with the support of the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Culturesfrance.

“Extra-Muros: Architectures of Delight” opens at the mcad in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde SDA Campus on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 7pm.

Elle a été présentée à Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Bangkok, Houston, Johannesburg, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Delhi, Nicosie, Prague, Pristina, Riyad, Sofia et Sydney.
