February is National Arts Month in the Philippines and in that light, we are thrilled to announce that the

Alliance Française de Manille Gallery

is now open!

For the first offering in 2 years, it is our honor to host the fundraising exhibition of Tukod.

An organization formed in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, its members are made up of non-local Siarganons who had come to call Siargao home and were there during the storm.

They experienced the effects first -hand and knowing they are able to leave the island while others do not have that choice, they then focused their efforts on rebuilding areas of Siargao and have identified Bohol as needing their aid as well.

In a country already weighed down with donor-fatigue from the pandemic, they tapped into the recession-proof art market and conceived of a charity auction, cold-calling artists, new and established, who agreed to giving 100% of the proceeds to the cause.

Now they just needed a venue. And that is how AFM came to be a part of it.

Come visit the AFM Gallery and purchase an artwork. The piece you bring back to your homes will help residents in Siargao and Bohol rebuild theirs.

On 16 February, to mark 2 months to the day, bidding will commence. At 1:30pm, the time when Typhoon Odette first made landfall on Siargao, head to IG @tukod.siargao.

MECHANICS FOR BIDDING:

All artworks will have a post each where you may place your bid in the comments. If you prefer to remain private, you may DM your bid. The post will be updated daily to reflect the days’ top bid to beat. Bids will be accepted until 28 February. That day, bidding caps off at 6:30PM, the time of first landfall on Bohol.
